Heading to Chicago

On Friday we decided after much debate to drive to Chicago to visit Uncle Andy and Aunt Kim Tai. Kim Tai had found a Dragon Dance at the field museum and we were going to have a fun filled Saturday in Chicago. Well until we spun out on I94 just west of Milwaukee in the driving snow and landed in a snowbank on the median of the road. No one was hurt, the car is fine, we were a bit shaken, except Dora who said WIEEEE after we stopped sliding. We were stuck on the side of the road for a little under 2 hours. Thank you to the nice tow truck man for pulling us out. We did learn several things, when the weather man says do not travel. DO NOT TRAVEL. When you call for help, try to call for help to the local department not 911. Of course if you are hurt, call 911, but if not call the local. Things go very smoothly when you do. And finally, have the child screaming in the back of the car does speed up the process:) We are very thankful that we made it out without even a scratch on us or the car. After we were out of the snow we went to Aunt Jill's house and spent the night. We were about 10 minutes from their house when we spun. Thank you to the Jill and Dan for letting us take refuge at their home. We had a fun evening of playing games, making cookies and watching movies. When we dug out the next morning we drove home. Home is such a good place to be. That afternoon we watched the Badgers make it into the sweet 16 of the NCAA basketball tournament at Aunt Laura's and Uncle James' house. We had a good time playing and cheering. It was not how we intended the weekend to go but had a good time just the same. Oh yes if you did not catch it during the post. We got another big snow storm. The second day of spring had the 2nd largest snow storm of the year for southern Wisconsin. We are only .4 of an inch away from 100 inches of snow, and it is snowing as I write this. I love breaking records!!!
